I’m going to be a junior this year and am starting to take many colleges into consideration. my top choice is nyu. the thing is nyu is pretty much the most expensive school in the country and is stingy with financial aid. my parents are divorced and I have no money saved for college. my mom had gone through major surgeries recently including open heart surgery and then a few days later needing a pace maker put in. with coverage from insurance (which I might add isn’t good since we get it for free) the surgery still cost $200,000, recently she needed I believe 3 surgeries on her uterus as she was bleeding constantly and needed 3 blood transfusions plus had tumors in it. this has been a major financial set back for us as we are in huge debt already and she’s been out of work so much and her money from the state barely covers the bills. both my parents income I don’t think even reaches 100k. I know most of you are probably saying I shouldn’t go to nyu but it’s my dream plus at this rate I’ll have trouble paying for any college, so what should I do?
Run the net price calculator for NYU to see what they would expect you to pay. If it’s ridiculously out of your budget, then there really isn’t a ton you can do.
