Okay, so I work at a park. I have been working at this park since November of 2014. My boss has received multiple letters complimenting my work. I am currently a rising high school senior. I am really the parks systems only round-year employee, and I am the youngest employee. There are three positions: Attendant (lowest), Night Director (Middle), and Overall Director (highest) Directors can make up to 25 dollars an hour while regular park attendant make just above minimum wage. I know I have stood out based on merit. But, Alot of the jobs are given solely based off of your age. How can I break this trend and really impress my boss so she can see my leadership and abilities?
Are you saying that you want to be appointed as a director instead of as an attendant? Presumably the director jobs require additional responsibilities and may have time commitments that a full time high school student may not be able to meet. If this is a local government job, there are specific requirements for each type of position and often you can find the specific pay ranges that are authorized for each type of position. It sounds like you would want to find out what the highest hourly pay is for the attendant position and make a case that you are deserving of that wage. Good luck!
Are u going to work fulltime continuously, or will you be going off to college? If it’s the latter, then the park management probably thinks it’s not worth it to promote u.
