<p>For the typical personal statement, how can I show what sets myself apart? I am an upper middle class white person in a suburb, so I’m not that different. However, like most on CC, I am a much higher achiever than the average person. (not trying to brag). What can I say to set myself apart?</p>

<p>I like to read books, go on runs, and listen to music. These things are deeply meaningful to me, but they don’t set me apart.</p>
<p>Even though you may think you’re normal, you definitely do have something that you feel passionate about or unique about you. Even if you choose a relatively common topic like running, you can give it a new perspective.</p>
<p>Try talking about “small” things or quirks you have. They can be interesting and show your personality.</p>
