How can I state my hook (first-generation college)?

Do i have to mention it in the additional information or just put my parents’ education level in the common app?
Another question: Anyone here wrote 6 pages (double lining) for the additional information section? I think it mine is too long

Since the definition of first gen varies, you just answer the questions about your parents’ educational level and each school will decide if you fit their definition of first gen.

six pages? Really? that’s about 3000 words of text. Bad move. One page max.

Your info just isn’t that important. Yale knows the info it wants is within the parameters of the application itself.

For additional information, if you use the space provided instead of uploading you only get 1000 characters so you should probably limit yourself to that range.

Since the app asks about your parents education levels anyway, there’s no reason to put it in additional info.

Err I dont know but it is about 1000 words. I introduced about my school (I am an international student), elaborated my extracurricular activities and some internships, add some awards with elaboration, too.
Should I change to single lining so it’s shorter?

You may not need to introduce your school at all since you will need to be filling out the International Secondary School Supplement anyway. That might cut it down some, and spacing really doesn’t matter.

learn to widen margins, use small spacing and small font size. Believe me, it works.
{although too small font size would be a detriment.} Anyway, it shouldn’t be six pages. It might have a negative effect instead.
