<p>First, you need to figure out why you want to transfer and what you’re looking for in a transfer school. Using the internet, research the schools that you’re interested in–specifically go to their “transfer thread” of the specific schools. Understand that merit money is scarce for transfers so take this into consideration.</p>
<p>If you decide that you are sure about transferring, begin the process by filling out the transfer applications on the websites of the specific colleges. You will need College Professor Recommendations so begin now building a relationship with a couple of your professors. Take advantage of their office hours to meet with them. </p>
<p>When writing the transfer essay for your applications, be sure not to bash your current school. Explain in the essay why transfer school XXXX will help you achieve your goals, etc.</p>
<p>You need to do the research on your own. You can transfer at any time. Personally, I feel that it’s best to transfer and begin at the transfer college in the Fall semester for an easier transition (and to get on campus housing).</p>
