How can you tell?

i think they do brain scans.

if it looks like it, just punch them hard in the head just to be sure

Yeah, brain scans. They can probably detect decreased activity in certain areas of the brain, which will allow them to determine whether or not the person is in a coma.

No, I mean, like right away. Like, on-sight. “Omg, that guy just fell into a coma!”

What are the signs?

Are you sure that they can actually do that? 'Cause it sounds like more like something you’d see in movies.

I don’t think there are any visible signs. You probably couldn’t look at a series of pictures of people with their eyes closed and determine whether or not they’re sleeping or in a coma. The accident that caused the unconsciousness and the inability to wake up could indicate that the person is suffering from a coma.

If they looked like they were asleep…and you tried to wake them up…but their heart was still beating…but they wouldn’t wake up… would you know that they’re in a coma?

nope. maybe their just deep sleepers

What if you removed a tack that was 1" into the sole of their foot, and they remained asleep?

No one is that deep of a sleeper.

my option would then be better: hit them hard, and then send them to the hospital immediately

i think maybe by pain? like, there should be instinctive reflexes to pain. so if they don’t respond, maybe they are in a coma.
