how colleges look at ACT scores

when people list their SAT scores, they would add a verbal+math score by the side

When i see college profiles listing middle 50% ACT scores, they have an extra English+math score by the side.

Correct me if i’m wrong, but English tests one’s grammar skills right? and Verbal tests reading comprehension skills. So why don’t they add Reading+math, instead of English?

Hm, I’ve never seen the “extra English+math score by the side” thing you’re talking about. Where do you see this?

oh pages and pages of college profiles a college counselor sent me. Also, if you go to Univeristy of Michigan class profile. You’ll see that.
