^ My question exactly :)

I second this question.

i third this question.

Its not so bad. They are offered through departments so it’s a good idea to declare your major before the summer. And establish a relationship with a prof in an area you’re interested in – maybe by doing research for credit in spring quarter. They no longer have the official “summer research college” as it was axed due to budget cuts. The fellowships are still funded but there aren’t any dorm activities associated with doing research over the summer.

Thanks, whylion! Sad to hear about those budget cuts…Sorry, just to clarify, so you can you still do research over the summer but it just won’t be funded?

Also, in terms of doing research for credit during the spring quarter is it simply just speaking with a professor?

*The fellowships are still funded *

Summer Research College, as far as I could tell, was just a residential thing. They’d house all the students who were on campus doing research together, and put on group activities and stuff. I doubt its demise will mean that much; in my experience, people who are around for the summer are getting their social lives from the friends they already have, not from dorm activities.

Thank llpitch, read whylion’s answer too fast. OK, dorm activities are not a priority.
