How competitive is acceptance into the program? I am a sophomore in high school interested in applying to the program for the summer of 2013 (application is PUBLISHED in January 2013), but I am also interested in applying to Governor’s School for the Sciences (application DEADLINE is November 24, 2012). Since I am a sophomore, it is unlikely I will be admitted to Governor’s school since I have heard it is often based on seniority. Basically, to sum it up, I am trying to decide if I should go ahead and apply to Governor’s School anyway, and also apply to the Pre-College program at Emory, or if I should hold off until my Junior year to apply to Governor’s school. I don’t know if the way I explained this made perfect sense, but any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

if you are from tennessee gov school is not really based on seniority in my opinion.
I went to gov school as well after my my sophomore year as well a lot of my friends.
i dont know much about the emory pre college program.
i had tons of fun at gov school

Thanks for your input. From what I’ve heard about the particular school I want to get into, it’s based on seniority. However, I know the school for the arts, for example, is based purely on talent since the auditions and portfolios are looked at blindly.

Pretty sure they accept everyone. I went to the Summer 2012 one and I am pretty sure they let everyone in who applied. Such a great experience!!
