Competitive in what way? Competitive admissions? Competitive with other universities academically? Competitive with other NYU schools? Competitive students?

Academics and students.

CAS has some excellent programs. Politics is a top 15 program, as well as Econ. Psychology is a top 20. Philosophy is the best anywhere in the world. English is a top 5. Math is top 10. Applied math is the best anywhere. Is that a good enough indication?

Many students in CAS are pre-professional and some classes grade on bell curves. This means that in some cases, students can be quite competitive with one another when comes to getting a grade.

Thanks for the info, but I suppose I meant more along the lines of how hard the classes are.

Depends on what your major is. They’re aptly “difficult” for their respective subjects.

Your question is more qualitative or subjective rather than quantitative or objective, which makes your question quite difficult, if not impossible to answer, as it’s entirely possible every single person has a different opinion.
