How competitive is it? (Medical School)

I’m new to this, so bare with me. I am currently an undergraduate student at a top 25 university studying human biology with a minor in economics. My plan is to go to medical school (take 1 gap year), but I’m unsure as to where I stand on the application process. Here is my resume.

GPA: 3.65
MCAT: 34

Work Experience:
-Shadowed in the OR for an orthopaedic surgeon for 2 years
-Volunteered over 200 hours in hospitals/programs
-Spent a week in Nicaragua diagnosing children in low income communities (taking blood, analyzing results, etc.)

Leadership:
-Started a non-profit organization for students at my university, traveling to Ghana for weeks at a time to complete health surveys and rebuild lost cities.

Research:
-Conducted orthopaedic research for 2 years, co-authored 2 published papers.

Let me know what you think!

What is your home state?

California

Apply in Midwest, you will get in at several. There are many from CA in Midwest.

You should review LizzyM charts to see where you might be able to get in with your current GPA and MCAT. California is tough but there are other schools out there where you have an opportunity.

What is your science GPA? What is your MCAT breakdown?

My D is in the same boat as you are in. In California, she is planning to apply for UCD and Loma Linda only.
