Most of my classmates only take SAT, but I have been prepared for ACT for several months and got 29 in June. I want to try SAT this November. I was wondering if SAT will really make me more competitive.

Whether taking both tests makes you a more attractive candidate depends on how you do on the tests and where you apply. Having more data points about you does provide additional information that can be helpful in the admissions process. Many schools will consider your results from both tests, if you submit them. But, some will consider only the better of the two. It is unusual for a Chinese applicant to take both tests.

Yes it is unusual. But I think it is good to try both since I don’t have any AP courses.

If you got an SAT score of 2400 and an ACT score of 36, then it will look very impressive. But if you are scoring around the same percentile for both exams, I’m not sure if it will help much.
