How conservative is Le Moyne?

My S is interested in Le Moyne – he liked the admissions person who visited his high school, and he likes what he reads on their web site. He attends a congregational church occasionally (usually not on Sundays), primarily for the youth-group activities. He is very liberal (e.g., pro-gay rights). Will he find other liberal-minded not-very-religious students at Le Moyne?

I’m a freshman at Le Moyne!

It’s a Catholic school, and it’s more conservative than your average school, but since it’s a Jesuit school, not Roman Catholic one, it’s more liberal.

The Jesuits are known for being liberal, and so far, I’ve found this to be true. I mean, you’ll see things like a daily mass, Jesuits who live and teach on campus and such…but there’s a club called C.A.R.E which stands for Creating Awareness Reaching Equality, and it’s pretty much like a GSA (Gay Straight Alliance)…and let me tell you, to become a recognized club on campus, it takes a lot!

There are plenty of students who are not religious at all, although you’ll find more Catholics than anything.

I personally don’t find it too conservative in any way…and I come from a super liberal town, am completely pro-gay rights etc. I’ve found other students like myself. There are lots who come from NYC and are thus generally more liberal than those who come from Upstate NY.

If you have any other questions about Le Moyne, don’t hesitate to contact me!

I attend Le Moyne and it is Roman Catholic…Jesuits are Roman Catholic Priests. But it is not discriminatory to conservatives or liberals from my experience and I’m very much a Democrat
