How did this guy get into Yale?

Film majored, Jesse Maiman, realized he probably wouldn’t be able to find a job, got litigious.

[The Associated Press: Yale student sues airline for $1M over lost Xbox](http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5ifdF09e15CC3dHlh2-Yy9ir5zhswD96RS2F02)

It sounds like he’s partly doing it just to see if he can get away with it, I don’t doubt there are a lot of people like that at many schools. even “elite” ones.

I’d say that these are exactly the type of people that get into Yale.

Wow.

I was reading in the newspaper today about the crazy amounts of money people get in NYC for *tripping/i on a sidewalk.
It ranged from $1.65 million to $800,000.

High SAT scores, great extracurriculars and a wicked GPA

I’d say that these are exactly the type of people that get into Yale.

whoa that’s crazy…did they slip over snow or something? even then, it’s stupid…if you trip, all you deserve is a bit of help getting up, nothing more.

I don’t think you guys understand that you’re supposed to sue for the maximum when you file. It’s a bargaining technique, and it’s incredibly common in practice. I really doubt that the kid believes he’s going to get the million - this is pretty standard.

I read that and thought to myself, yeah I could see myself doing that.
