im interested in wat u did to get into UCLA
valedictorian, lot of community service, wat
i wanna get to good school and stuff and i want to see what you guyz/gals
did to get in

Taking the hardest math/science course-load available at my high school.

honestly i dont know how i got in. i was in a couple community service clubs, but never took a leadership position. wasnt part of leadership in school. no sports. no band/music. only had 3 APs: AP Calc AB, AP Spanish, AP statistics. GPA was 4.0 unweighted soph-sr year. 1320 (i think) on SATs. nothing really stands out except the 4.0 (and i wasnt even valedictorian because i got ONE B freshman year).

so you tell me, how did i get in?

valedictorian, decent test scores (average for UCLA), TONS of extracurriculars, great essays that emphasized individuality and strong character

so u just got 4.0 sphp-seniro year
no leadership no nuthiing?
watd u do for community service

leadership, community service, numerous academic awards, great gpa, sports, interesting essay, work experience, above average (for UCLA) test scores

2160 SATI, 760 SAT2 Bio M, 740 SAT2 Math2C

3.5 both semesters soph., 4.33 (3.83 UW) both semesters jr. [honors English, APBio (5), APStats (5)]

sr. year: AP Physics B (5), AP Eng. Lit (4), Finite/Discrete Mathematics (college level)

6 classes taken at community college, including full calculus sequence

~200 hours of community service, at local hospital and science camp, helped coordinate charity concert (proceeds sent to tanzania), national level piano competition winner, county fair digital art award winner

and of course…really good essays :D

2190 SAT
800 and 770 SAT II’s
4.29 UC/3.89 uw GPA
Several AP’s, 4 or 5 on all of them

That’s basically it. I had no community service. I was in 1 club at school. I had no really meaningful EC’s. My essays were pretty decent at best. I don’t think UCLA emphasizes those things as much as other top schools. GPA seems to have the most emphasis from what I’ve seen from others I know who have gotten in. As long as your grades are good, and your SAT’s pretty good, I think you’ll be fine…no need to go cure cancer or anything to get into UCLA.

i heard ucla admission is very eratic.

I think UCLA admissions is eratic.

I took every honors and AP class possible except spanish. (stupid idea if you ask me. my counselor said i should)
2230 SAT
3.96 UC GPA 4.6 W
Like 500 hrs of community service.
three sport teams
vice president of two clubs
and killler essays

loads of other crap that I just added together.

IB Diploma and leadership in a ton of extracurriculars

didnt care about SAT scores whatsoever, good thing i tested okay cold

I got into UCLA for pre-business econ, if that matters.

I only had 3 APs (calc AB, physics B, Eng. comp&lit), but that was kinda because my school sucks and didn’t offer much AP courses to begin with. Oh and I had two honor classes- chem honors and eng. 3 honors (the only honor classes our school has.)

Unweighted GPA was 3.8, weighted was 4.2.

I did not join ANY clubs during my whole 4 years of high school. I think I was the only person in my school who qualified for CSF but didn’t join. I just hated clubs, that’s all. So yeah, I did outside community service on my own at places like food banks and stuff.

SAT1: 2060
SAT2: math2c-750, chinese-770

varsity badminton 4 years, two years captain; 8 years soccer, + a few years of random sports team (JV Xcountry, JV h20 polo, JV volleyball)

6 years of flute, 4 years in wind ensemble and 4 years in orchestra

compared to everyone else who got in, I don’t have crap. Seeing as I didn’t get into Berkeley, I’m starting to wonder if my admission was a fluke or something. You all know that kind of stuff always happen…

yep. i was an active member in KEY Club for 4 years, CSF for 3 years, and Red Cross Club for 2 years.

honestly, i was almost set on going to Davis until UCLA dropped this bomb on me. :D

1650 SAT
25 ACT
3.7 weighted gpa
lots of music classes
only 4 ap’s in high school
no clubs

here i come ucla!!!

3.9… a lot of awards (statelevel) and a lot of recognition

i also made sure that my essays showed how much i care abt my future major

lots of obstacles overcome

job 10+ hrs/wk for all 4 yrs of HS in addition to numerous leadership positions ando ther stuff

3.8 UC GPA
2100 SAT
800 SAT2 math2c
710 SAT2 chem

just goes to show that you don’t need to be a valedictorian to make it into UCLA

still, an 800 in math 2c is impressive and 2100 SAT score is very solid.
