How did you guys structure your essay? (+ is this appropriate?)

I wrote a similar essay for ____, which I quite liked. It starts off with a story talking about how I started becoming interested in my major and what I like about it.
This ‘introduction’ is about 300-400 words, which is quite long I guess.
I link this with WCAS… and then proceed to talk about unique qualities regarding NW etc. (another 400-500)

Thus the total is about 350 + 400 = 750 words. Too lengthy (is this a bad structure)?

I’ll probably have a little less room to elaborate on NW though. Do you think I should just stick with something shorter without the first part (which would be less personal/interesting). I’m afraid of writing a boring ‘list-form’ supplement.

Everything in your application should be viewed as an opportunity for the admissions councelor to get to know you. So in my opinion, if it is well written and provides any window, glimpse, or insight into your character, goals, personality - then you should definitely leave the introductory section that explains the developement of your interest in your major.
