It seems like just yesterday my d’s were playing with dolls and letting me pick out their clothes and they thought I knew everything. Now one is in college and the 2nd not far behind. How did THAT happen?

Well, thanks, everyone! The poem sounds vaguely familiar…I remember doing a ton of Shakespeare in h.s., but I’m sure we must have done poems too, just don’t remember!

Anyway, what is a slithey tove? Some sort of bird? Or other animal? Thanks! :)

A slithey tove as that which “Did gyre and gimble in the wabe.” Clara? heh.

My screenname comes from my oldest’s behavior when he learned to crawl. He would leave the lap, go on a journey, circle back in for a climb up onto the lap (we called it a hugcheck) and then go off on another journey. It was inordinately delightful to watch. I kinda viewed the college search and application process as the same thing, and my role to be pretty similar.

I am touched by how many of you (like me) are on your second screen name. And how many of you (like me) have mixed feelings about your screen name. Parenting ain’t for the faint of heart.

And we tend to age more rapidly during the college application process years! :)

Although my mom (who is not a worrier) would say that she worried more about us after college…you know the saying…“little kids, little problems, big kids, bigger problems”…

“Class of 2015” was my last pick for a screen name. I tried a couple, but they were all taken: justbreathe, relax, itsherjourney, itsonlycollege, wherefungoestodie. Now I realize “class of 2015” is kind of limiting b/c I plan to log on long after little Missie gets in to college (as part of the class of 2015). So you’ll hear from me from now until 2013 when S is doing the same thing. I may change my name…but you’ll know it’s me :)

Another member wishing she could change her CC name without losing my posts. My sn is just a combo of part of my name and the word clan…meaning my family.

There are so many other possible sn’s that would define me better as an individual, apart from my clan.

H & I love to ballroom dance. Tango is our favorite dance. All my screen names are variations of tango. It’s more common than I thought, hence tango14. I also like it because it could be something chosen by a man or woman, so other posters aren’t always sure unless I give it away.

However, my username on a blogging/social networking site references a book series that I read as a child/young adolescent that has been out of print for 10 years. I’ve been surprised how many people in completely unrelated communities have picked up on and asked me the reference and series.
