You should practice* spelling.

I’m British. On this side of the pond, we often use “practise” for the verb, you know :)

Sorry, this has nothing to do with this thread and honestly, I do not give a care about SATs anymore (seeing as how I’ve already enrolled in college), but I have to point out, the poster who tried to criticize the topic maker’s spelling got owned. While I’m here, I’ll at least respond to the question to some degree. I had minimal preparation for the SAT (lacked the desire). Most of my preparation came the day before or a few days before at most. My score ended up being a 2060 (CR: 660, M:680, W:720 12 essay). Although my score isn’t that bad, I thought it would keep me out of most top colleges. I was wrong. GPA, course rigor, hooks, essays are way more important. Don’t freak out! Good luck on your next sitting.

Thanks
Hopefully, it should go OK - it’s actually the first SAT I’m taking. Good luck with college! Emory’s meant to be pretty good, or so I’ve heard.

Thanks, I appreciate that. Yeah, Emory will be a challenge. I’m bound to enjoy or dread that. It all depends on the community really. When it’s time for college, make sure you choose one in which you know there will be competitive people. This way you will be pushed to your limits and will thus reach the highest level you can. By the way, since this is your first SAT, don’t worry so much about what you’re going to get. Just use it as a guide for how much you need to prepare next time. Don’t stress and good luck again.

Heh, coming on CC and learning that anything <750 per section supposedly dooms you doesn’t help much with stress, but thank you nonetheless ^^.

I slept. Does that count?

I kind of freaked out the week before when I realized I had the SAT in one week. So I studied my ass off for 3 days, well “attempted.” Other than that I took a prep course over the summer which wasn’t really helpful.

For my March SAT I tried studying everything the night before it, but it ended up being pointless. I wasn’t getting any Math correct and I couldn’t focus on the reading. It was the first studying I did since the PSAT from Oct/Nov, so I was kind of nervous, but I told myself to calm down–I called a girl I liked and just talked to her all night (haha, well about an hour and a half, went to bed at 11)

And in the morning I looked up books I read this year for English and the themes of them, ended up using Huck Finn as an essay example.

And I ended up getting a 2030, not too bad for no studying

Before the PSAT I did a bunch of sets of Math problems because that was my worst section and I wanted to get into RSI. I ended up with a 226 and a 74 (one less than RSI likes) in math. But an 80 in writing so there you go.

Before the SAT I didn’t prepare at all really and I got 2100. I went over how to write essays.

I studied quite a bit before the May SAT. Lots of practice questions. But I don’t knwo what I got yet, sorry.

I made a beast set of flashcards for vocabulary and grammar terms for the May SAT and just looked at those everyday on the subway ride to school (Queens to Manhattan = 1.5 hours) and back home. Dont have my new scores yet…
