it’s like a goldfish that lives in its little aquarium for most of its life until it’s (for some reason) released into the ocean. there are tons of little fishes in the ocean, and a lot of much more massive ones too. it’s all relative.</p>
<p>why didn’t you get in? imho, good (but not great) sat’s, if just one club + community service + violin (and i’m assuming nothing spectacular came out of it), so-so GC rec, and you’re from NJ, where lots of people have better qualifications than you do. like many said, top schools’ admissions are just a crapshoot, so overconfidence just leads to utter disappointment</p>

my stats are similar, except that i was in a crapload of clubs, etc, and i got in. maybe also cuz i’m in art and not just artsci?</p>
<p>your admission to the art school was probably based not just on your numbers and activities, but also on a consideration of your artistic talent or potential (i.e. your portfolio)</p>
