How different is college calculus 1 from AP calculus AB?
I took calculus in high school but I only got a 3 on the AP exam.
Since my college doesn’t accept 3s on AP scores, I need to retake calculus or take a lower level math class.
I did enjoy my calculus class in high school and did really well( got As on the tests) but after seeing my AP score I lost confidence.
Should I retake calculus or take a lower level math class in college?(I’m not math or engineering major)

Depends on the school.

Most logical step is retake calculus if the lower level math class in college is Precalculus, which would be a waste of time for you.

Generally speaking, AP Calculus AB is supposed to be the equivalent of an introductory calculus course. If Calculus 1 is an introductory class, then I’d imagine that they are quite similar.

Calculus AB goes a little further than most Calculus I classes.
