How difficult is AP Exams?

I heard the grading is pretty simple. I am willing to take AP U.S Government exam and is going to be my first time. Any tips to able to get a nice grade?

What do you mean? Your score is an integer in {1,2,3,4,5}, with 5 the best, but that doesn’t mean grading is necessarily simple.

If you’re asking whether the score system is simplistic, then…kind of? The end result is an integer, but there’s a lot of work behind the scene that determines the score.

It can depend on the level of results that year, among other things (to where it may be a PvP exam for some). I’ve noticed that the score is indirectly proportional to the skill level of others taking the test plus the difficulty of the test.

As for tips…study hard, and hope the people taking the exam that year aren’t up to snuff?

What do you mean snuff? Also, my English is my third language (first arabic and second spanish). But I was wondering also, does scoring below 3 affect your college? (I am not majoring in political science or related too)

To “snuff” someone is sort of a slang term meaning “to beat someone really hard.” (PS: the title of this thread should be “How difficult are AP exams?”).

AP scores rarely influence college admissions; usually the purpose of an AP exam is to learn the material in HS so you don’t have to waste time taking the corresponding course in college.

AP class scores typically don’t influence college admission; however they do allow you to earn credit for some college classes (credit amounts depend on what colleges). The multiple choice part of the test is graded on a 5-point basis and most colleges will accept as low as a 3, but often times the higher the score, the more college credit. The FRQ is graded on a 7 point scale. There are rubrics you can look up for each subject/AP class. If the essay you write is exceptional you can earn bonus points, putting you at an 8 or 9, or at least I know you can for AP WH (irrelevant to this).
