How difficult is school like

Princeton, Cornell, UPenn, or Columbia for grad school? (Ph.D, CS)

What GPA and GRE scores would be considered somewhat good shot at these schools?

very…

hmmm gpa should be at least 3.5, gre 800 math, 700 verbal but u need more than just numbers

I doubt the average verbal scores are that high, especially for a math intensive discipline.

Is GRE hard to score high? I thought scoring 800 on SAT math section was fairly easy although I did miserable on verbal (500ish)

quite a few score 800 on math. remember that research is important for grad school. if u can publish by the time u apply, ur on the short list.

well verbal is hard to get above 700. depending on where / what major u apply. for my school, GRE math average is like 750. I’m sure quite a few get 800.

do you have to do research in the same discipline? For example, can I do research in biology and still apply to engineering grad school school? How would adcoms view this?

I think the average verbal school for top schools in engineering are in the low 500’s.

Average verbal for engineering majors is a shade under 500 the last time I check, and in the upper 700s for math. The ETS publishes it somewhere in their website.
