How Do-able is a semester in India?

I’ll give you guys some backgound info. Right now i’m a freshman at Berkeley, pre-med intended toxicology major. I’ve been backpacking all my life and want to do an 80 day Wilderness Medicine backpacking/camping/rafting trip in India with NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School). If i were to get into medical school, I would specialize in emergency medicine, I love the field and I have a job lined up as an EMT this summer. I’m not taking this just to boost my medical school chances, I am genuinely interested in this course, but any input on whether this would help my chances would be nice.

If I were to go on this trip, I would go fall of my junior year, after I transfer into and declare my major with CNR (from L&S). How far would this put me behind in my class scheduling? If i were to take MCB 102 over the summer, would I still be too far behind in my required toxicology courses to graduate on time? Should I e-mail a toxicology adviser about this?

Also, how lenient is Berkeley about taking a semester off to study abroad not with EAP? Does anyone have any experience with this?

This is the course website

ANY input would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

If you plan your schedule correctly for your sophomore year then this should be fine. This also depends on the classes you have taken in your freshman year, however.
