How do adcomms decide the value of a website created by an applicant?

Hi!

So last week, I published my site online and I was surprised to find that it had garnered over 2K hits in just 5 days! My website features detailed guides and other stuff on government policies that will be of help to the people when they want avail of such policies.

Now, it hasn’t been featured in a major tech news site or such. How will the college adcomms look at the site? Will having over say, 50K hits or more(if more, then how much?) be something worth noting or will it be looked as just another activity?

Having said that, please note that it is not at all the most prominent EC on my app. I have a few things that are far better than this. I know that it will help, but I do not know up to which extent it will?

I’m sorry if this question sounds silly.

Thank you for your time!

By itself, it makes no difference. Naturally the quality of what you submit is more important than the quantity-regardless of what we are talking about. If you are apply to a tech oriented school and if they say they will look at a url, then they will be interested in its utility and potential to do good things, etc. Remember, a porn site may get thousands of hits in a day but that won’t impress colleges. If the site is a good one, then the college might be impressed. And if it isn’t, they won’t be. Further, it will do no good if there is a disconnect between the website and your other activities. If developing a website fits naturally into the picture you paint of yourself then it could help if it is well designed and obviously your creation.
