so I wonder if colleges like mit and caltech that ask for your amc/aime scores can verify the scores you self-reported? I got something like a 113 on the AMC10A in 9th grade, but in 10th grade, there was that AIME leak and I saw the problems before the exam since people were posting them online (Ik this counts as cheating but i didn’t know it was the actual exam…), so I got a very high score which would seem really suspicious if I report it since I’m not crazy good at math. But I still want to report the 113 which represented my true ability. However, if colleges are gonna verify my 113, they will probably also see the really high AIME score that I got in 10th grade and potentially question why I didn’t report that score. What should I do?
I would not report a 113 AMC10 score to MIT/CalTech, because it won’t move the needle in admissions.
I do not know if (or how) MIT and CalTech verify scores.
I agree that a 113 will not move the needle.
As far as verification goes, colleges can receive names of high scorers. Michigan used to, and perhaps still does, mail everyone who qualified for AIME.
