How Do Colleges Look at GPA?

A good friend and I were debating the way colleges look at GPA. This is the scale that we pretty much came up with after arguing over whether or not a 2.6 was a B - or a C+

3.8 - 4.0 A
3.5 - 3.7 A -
3.0 - 3.4 B
2.6 - 2.9 B -
2.3 - 2.5 C+
2.2 and below: Not worth mentioning :)

Do you guys think this is fairly accurate?

The only time letter grades come into play is with individual classes...

I think you scale is kinda meaningless because with considering a full transcript, a cumulative GPA is pointless for admission.

One person might have gotten straight B+'s while another might have gotten straight A except for two C's in Spanish. The could have the same cumulative GPA but which is the better student?

I think that would be fairly accurate although keep in mind they dont just look at your GPA, they look at all of your courses and see how you did in certain ones.
