<p>I was born in Indiana, and moved into California for collage.</p>
<p>I reside in California for one year, studied collage, and it is going to be my second year.</p>
<p>My family afforded the out of state fee for a year, but they re not able to afford the rest of collage unless I get scholarship or loan.</p>
<p>What is the requirements to become a CA resident?
Do I automatically become a resident after a year?</p>

<p>I don’t think it is possible for you to become an instate resident for college purposes. Here is some info from berkeley’s web site. I am sure your college has a page with the same info. Google is your friend.</p>

<p>engineerisme is correct. Unless your college has strange policies, you cannot establish state residency just by going to college in the state. If your parents aren’t willing to cosign a loan for you (or you can’t afford to take out as much of a loan as you would need), you’re going to have to look into cheaper options.</p>
<p>YOU can become a California resident for paying taxes, voting, registering your car, getting a driver’s license, but if you are asking about how to become eligible for in state tuition, that is a whole other category. You need to look up what your school uses as criteria as to what defines a CA resident to THEM for in state tuition purposes. Ask around and find out how the rules are interpreted and put to use. The definition can vary widely among the different state schools. All that matters for you is how your school defines OOS.</p>
