How do I check if each college downloaded my FAFSA?

I want to know if each college downloaded my FAFSA, how would I do that?

You would need to call each school. Don’t jump the gun. I work in a financial aid office & while we have FAFSA files waiting to be imported into our computer system, we are not ready to do it yet. There is a lot to be done in an aid office before the new year’s FAFSA’s can be brought in. Relax … if you received notification that your FAFSA was process & your SAR shows no problems in the comment section, you are fine. Do double-check your school codes, though … make sure you sent them to the correct campus if the school has more than one campus.

I’m stressing and it is my 5th year doing FAFSA between 3 students!! I’ve never filed as early (jan 3rd) before so haven’t had to stress for as long before .

hi Kelsmom, since you work in financial aid office can you please respond.

My FAFSA was processed and got the info as below:
“The Social Security Administration did not confirm that you are a U.S. citizen. Please provide your financial aid office with documentation of your U.S. citizenship (such as your U.S. Passport, Certificate of Naturalization or Birth Certificate). If the documents support your status as a U.S. citizen, the financial aid office at your school will make a copy of your documentation and can continue to process your federal student aid.”

since I became U.S citizen a year ago, I chose “U.S Citizen” option.
Can you please tell me what should I don now in this scenario?. Should i call fin.aid office of the colleges I applied and talk to them?. Will FAFSA send processed application to colleges or HOLD it?.

Thanks.

I work at a school with a very large immigrant population, so I do know about this! The social security administration does not have records on file that indicate you became a citizen. We recommend that our students contact the SSA ([The United States Social Security Administration](http://www.ssa.gov) for contact info) to get that corrected.

In the meantime, check with each school to find out what they want you to do in terms of providing documentation of citizenship. We request a copy of the passport or other documents proving citizenship (or eligible non-citizen status).

FAFSA will send the application to the schools. However, the schools will have to have evidence of citizenship status to complete processing of your aid.

Thank you kelsmom. I did talk to one of the schools applied and they told to send copy of the passport/naturalization, social security card and in the process of sending them.
