I forgot to bring my modem, so I had to buy one at Best Buy. I connect the phone line to my computer/modem and the ethernet as well, but I’m not getting any internet signal or light… I can’t even access the resnet.ucsd.edu site!

On my laptop I try to connect to the Fleet router, and I get to resnet.ucsd.edu fine. I answer the small quiz but it takes me to a website that says “this webpage is unavailable” ***!

I’m using the Guest connection right now on my laptop… Help would be appreciated.

In the wall there should be a panel with three things: a phone jack, an ethernet jack, and a cable jack. I never heard of anybody missing an ethernet jack. You don’t need a modem to connect to ucsd’s internet. If you get your own router, I think you need to register it with resnet if you want it to work.

if my ethernet jack doesnt work, i call resnet, right?
'cause i get wireless but not very well.
and it isnt my ethernet cord, because i borrowed my friends ethernet cord to test as well…so my cord works…it seems to be the ehternet jack?

oh and is there an internet usage limit?

i know berkeley had one. like you can only use x amount of internet… (idk what they call it) but if you like, say watch too many videos, you wont be able to do anything else until like the next sunday or something…but i cant find anything on resnet’s site…

I’m having trouble with logging in thru ResNet at Muir. We’re supposed to login with our ACMS email and password for network username and network pass, correct?

yes; often times it takes a while for the registering/ login to load in your browser… and sometimes the page doesn’t even load at all… in that case, just restart your computer again and retry.
