So I’ve narrowed down my choices to UW Seattle and CSU long beach. Going to uw Seattle would mean being close to home, not going into college completley alone and basically this would just be the easier and cheaper choice. However I’ve talked about moving to California for so so long… I’ve always wanted to live there at some point in my life and csulb is one of the cheaper out of state schools… But going out of state would mean leaving all my friends and family behind to a completely new place. Also I am more of an introvert so I’m not great at making new friends so I’m worried if I move there, I’ll just be homesick and regret my decision… I don’t know. Should I take the risk? I have to make my decision very soon and I am really freaking out. I don’t know what to do
Hi there! Given that you consider yourself more of an introvert and not great at making new friends easily, I’m not sure the atmosphere at CSULB is going to give you the opportunity to meet new people and have the college experience it sounds like you want - and would have at UW.
Long Beach is really more of a commuter school that empties out on weekends. I think the number of students who live on campus is around 10%, and about half are freshmen. After first year, a lot of non-commuters move to off campus housing, but it’s not necessarily like a lot of colleges that have an area off campus where all the students live and is almost like an extension of the campus. That sort of further minimizes the chance to meet new people after first year.
And although it may be a lesser expensive California school for someone out of state, you’re still talking somewhere close to $11-12K a year for tuition, another $12K for room & board, then add travel costs, etc. In my opinion, it’s not worth it.
If you want to move to CA, you have the rest of your life after college to do that, or maybe grad school (?) but I’m not sure it’s the best decision for right now when you have an opportunity to go to UW in the great city of Seattle. I’m from CA and even I’d choose UW over Long Beach. 
University of Washington is a much better school than Cal State Long Beach by virtually every academic and social measure. Go to UW.
University of Washington is the simple choice here. Given the chance, that’s where I’d go between the two.
