the only troubles i face in math are careless stupid mistakes like not reading the problems correctly, or not completing the problem or more of the such…

What can i do the SAT’s are next week to improve and get rid of my bad habits drastically?

and please don;t say just read the problems more carefully or slowly because i’ve already tried that so is there any one technique i can use to stop me from making careless mistakes???

please help

Do the problems REALLY FAST and then go back and check every one of your answer.

Some people might look at me and say, “What?!” But humans work in unusual ways. While some people make no mistake by going slow, others tend to make more mistakes by going slow because they take too much time on calculations and other issues. So when they have to solve problems in shorter amount of time, they omit extra time for mistakes.

As for checking part, this is incumbent for anyone who finishes test (any test) early. Speed can be beneficial to some but that doesn’t mean that going fast obliterates all mistakes.

I don’t remember what they allow you to have in terms of scratch papers, or if you can tear off any of the test pages, but…
if you can get a spare piece of paper (preferably white, or in some way
looking different than the math pages),
use it to mask the questions below what you’re working on. Slide it down as you progress from problem to problem.
That is, if you tend to read the numbers from problem 8 while you’re working on problem 7.

If it’s a word problem, UNDERLINE or circle the key words in the problem. Pay special attention to the words that give data (what you know) and the words that ask for an answer (what you’re trying to know).

If you notice while you’re reading the problem that it’s asking for a two-part solution, put a big star there so you don’t forget to do the second part of the calculation before bubbling in an answer.

TRY GRAYFALCON"S TECHNIQUE at home in a practice run. Sounds worthwhile.

Plug your answers into the question to check them. That’s about all I can suggest…I’m not too sure if grayfalcon89’s method will really work, as I have the feeling you’ll just end up with a ton of careless errors from skimming too much.

I made the same errors on my standardized tests. Grayfalcon’s method sounds like it would be inaccurate. I agree with laserprecision (fitting username!). Don’t go lightning fast or you will make even more errors. I think you should do paying3tutions method which is to circle or underline or star the 2nd part of the problem (like if an algebra problem says to find 3x rather than x, circle 3x to remind yourself to multiply by 3)
