How do I get into Ivy League schools? Tips, hints, and strategies would be great!
Oh and I am currently in the 8th grade!

Take hard classes, get good grades, and relax. You do not need to worry until about tenth grade. No magic formula, just hard work and a lot of luck.

And don’t fall into the ignorant-sounding “Ivy League” trap, unless you use the term generically. There are equivalent and even superior non-“Ivy” options, e.g. Swarthmore, Williams, Amherst, MIT, U. Chicago, Stanford and on and on. All are highly competitive and require great grades in challenging classes, great scores and occasionally some hooks.

^^ yeah but Princeton >>> all those other schools for undergrad, that’s why he posted in the Princeton section

^No. All of those schools (especially the LACs, which don’t have graduate programs in the first place) provide equally (if not more) exceptional undergraduate experiences.

The trap has taken hold of our OP already. OP says he/she has been wanting to go to P’ton since five years of age.

I would be surprised if OP could tell us 10 legitimate things about P’ton or any Ivy that are different than other top LACs.

You are only in 8th grade. You have plenty of time.Do things that you enjoy.
:)

Don’t worry about it, since the world is apparently ending on 12/21/12. Haha. Oh the mayans and their antics. :)

I would add that the OP should try to stick with one or two ECs that he/she loves for all four HS years so he/she can earn some recognition in those ECs, whether it be music or volunteer work or sports or drama or whatever. Try to find something you can commit to for four years.

That and what everyone else said: take the hardest schedule your school offers and that your personal schedule allows and get great grades and do well on the SATs.

But there’s no formula of course! :)

Of course there’s a formula. It’s written in your acceptance letter.
