Hi!
I’m planning on applying for pre-med (basically any stem major that’ll get me in) at the schools listed below. Considering my GPA, they all seem like a reach. Is there anything that I can do at this point that I can do to compensate for it (besides raising my SAT score)? Thanks in advance
Aiming for:
Johns Hopkins
UCLA
UCSD
Northwestern
Vanderbilt
Georgetown
Emory
WashU St. Louis
Rice University
Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.8 (unweighted) 4.13 (weighted Sophomore and Junior)
SAT: 1500 (I will be retaking it, my current practice test scores are around 1560-1580)
SAT Subject: 800 Biology, 750 Math II, hopefully 750+ on Chem (taking this in May)
AP Tests: AP Bio (5), APUSH (5)
Extracurriculars:
3 years of Debate (leadership position for 2 years, awards in competitive tournaments)
Research Intern at a state university in summer of sophomore-junior year. I will be interning again the summer of 2018, might have a published research paper.
Miscellaneous volunteering (teaching low-income students for a year, volunteering for charity foundations to raise money etc.)
Other:
I’m an Asian female from the San Francisco Bay Area. Not a low-income family, not a first gen college students, no real obstacles to talk about.
Right now, my chances look pretty weak for almost all the colleges above. I’m planning on interning for two months again this summer, and I will be taking either USABO or USACO this year (not 100% sure I’ll make it to semi-finals), I might also be participating in a Mission trip to a South American country. Is there anything I can do to strengthen my application? What are my chances for these schools right now?
Thanks again!
