How do I get over the embarrasement of telling people I go to a cc?

I feel completely suffocated and worthless attending a community college. I graduated from a top notch all boys school in nyc and talking about a cc was considered a taboo. How do I get rid of this mindset?

“I am going to graduate from college debt free. What about you?”

Happykid attends a Newsweek “Top 100” HS in the suburbs of Washington, DC. Every single year more of the graduates of that HS choose to attend our local community college than any other college or university - in some years more than twice as many as chose the number two institution (UMd College Park). However, until just this year the statistics posted on the HS website ignored that fact. When it was brought to the attention of the person responsible for posting the information about where the graduates go, things changed. Maybe it was just neglect, or maybe it was the classist assumption that parents wouldn’t like to hear that so many kids choose our CC.

Happykid and many of her friends will be commuting to our CC next year because it is affordable. Yes, she probably could have gotten in somewhere else, but we couldn’t have paid for it. With a bit of luck, we should be able to scrape together the money for the last two years after she transfers. Our goal is to see that she finishes with as little college debt as possible.

^what she said.

not only that, but CC is a much better investment for your social life/character. ive seen a countless number of friends/family/students eff their education up because they went to college and partied their face off. CC doesnt offer greek life, parties, and hot girls…but its also a really good thing. no distractions, no excuses.

work hard now, party the ■■■ out later.
