I’ve never taken the bus before at UCLA, but would like to visit the Getty. Anyone know how much it costs per trip and where to go exactly? Thanks.

You can use Zipcar to drive yourself there, details here: [Renting Vehicles, Buses & Shuttles (1001555)](http://map.ais.ucla.edu/go/1001555)

or I suppose you could even bike to the Getty (though I wouldn’t recommend doing so on Sepulveda). According to Metro, Rapid Line 761 is the bus you’ll want to take. It has stops on Westwood/Lindbrook, Westwood/Le Conte, Hilgard/Westholme, Hilgard/Charing Cross, and Sunset/Bellagio and will drop you off at Sepulveda/Getty Center Dr. From my experience, it costs $1.50 each way, so $3 round trip.

^I second the Metro Rapid option. It’s relatively low cost and can be very fast depending on traffic. There is a bus stop right in front of Chick-fil-A, at Westwood/Le Conte I believe (and also stops at Hilgard and Sunset/Bellagio near the UCLA residential halls). You can’t miss it. There’s a blue bench with a signpost. The bus comes every 10-20 minutes or so. The one you’ll want to board is the 761, a red and silver, 2-compartment bus. It costs $1.50 to get on, and you pay this when you board (they take $1 bills and coins). You’ll be on the freeway for 10-15 minutes or so depending on traffic. They will usually announce major stops…e.g. “Now approaching Sepulveda/Getty Center.” or something like that. The message will also be displayed at the front of the bus, on a light board. When you see/hear this, pull the yellow cable that runs along the bus, signaling that you want to get off. It’s best if you know the penultimate stop and just do this after leaving that stop. I’m not sure what the penultimate stop before Sepulveda/Getty Center is (just look it up). If you are really unsure, just let the bus driver know where you want to get off in advance. The center itself is free, I believe. When you are done with your visit, board the 761 in the opposite direction (i.e. don’t board the bus at the same stop you got off at) and get off at one of the UCLA stops. You should be able to tell when you’re getting close to UCLA (you can see the buildings).

“How do I get to the Getty Center from UCLA?”

Tons of hard work, incredible talent, and a lot of luck.

There are two Getty museums. I thought you meant the one on the cliffs by the beach. I guess that one is called the Getty ‘Villa’ now: <a href=“Visit the Getty Villa Museum”>http://www.getty.edu/visit/villa/

You have to get a free advance ticket for the villa, though. Personally, I recommend it.
