I have a problem with handwriting. My handwriting looks like a fifth graders. My intelligence isn’t the problem because I’m taking ap Euro and honors English but I’m worried about my handwriting. How do I improve it?
try guided practice sheets that you can print off and just practice writing slowly, almost think about it like drawing or trying to replicate a shape. Also, there are videos on you tube that are really helpful for showing the best way to form a letter (generally starting from the top rather than bottom). Good Luck!
Practice as much as you can.
alright thanks
Practice doing what exactly? Don’t be so vague please.
writing?
they are not being vague, there really isn’t much you can do besides write.
Some people say finding a calligraphy class helps. Maybe at a local college?
Im only a sophomore in high school though. How could I possibly go to a local college? Sorry for trolling I won’t do that anymore.
Practice one selected style of cursive using paper with light guidelines and just write out your favorite quotes or lyrics.
Find calligraphy videos online. But, calligraphy is not the same as basic cursive handwriting.
Ok. Thank you for the advice.
@fallenchemist Sorry for joking around. Im new to this site and I didn’t read any of the guild lines.
You may be right, I have zero personal experience with this and I am simply relaying what others have told me helped them. I think it helped not so much because the writing strokes are the same, but that the practice helped them with fine motor skills in general, which in turn helped their handwriting. I am sure you are right that this can be achieved in various ways, but of course learning it through calligraphy could be fun, not to mention a source of revenue for addressing wedding invitations and the like, if people still do that.
The kind of classes I am talking about are usually open to everyone. They might also be taught at your local Y or other community center, or there may be a local practitioner that gives lessons. That was only one possibility.
Tp the OP, curious as to why your handwriting bothers you? Mine stinks. Always has. But I don’t worry about it because its never been an issue for me.
@doschicos it doesn’t bother me much. It just does a little bit because my handwriting has been like this since 5th grade and I’m in 9th grade now. My handwriting is legible.
The “Handwriting Without Tears” textbooks are available through Amazon, at stores that sell teaching supplies, and the publisher’s own website: https://www.hwtears.com/hwt
When I was little, I had atrocious hand writing so my mom made me copy newspaper articles to improve my handwriting and now I’d say I have nice handwriting
Buy something called Pilot Fountain Pen, either Metropolitan (better) or Plumix (cheaper), with medium nib,and either blue ink and ink erasers, or black ink. The unfamiliar feel will force you slow down, as will the gesture of writing with a fountain pen. These cost about $12 so they’re not the mega expensive pens. They actually improve the look of your handwriting, plus no one would think a 10 year old would use fountain pens.
