How do I indicate gap year on Common App?

I’m an international student in Canada but my family recently got approval for US permanent residency. We are expected to get interviewed by US immigration as the last step of the whole green card process. In order to do the interview and also do an internship, I took a gap year and now I’m in my home country.

My gap year is very reasonable and I was wondering how to indicate my gap year on Common App. All I see is the question “Are you currently enrolled in college” which I answered No. Is this it? Or is there another section for gap year students?

Also, I really want to explain the reason for taking a gap year, and the tab “Education Interruption” is only for secondary school. Should I just explain the reason and my gap year experiences in the “Why transfer” essay?

Perhaps utilize the “additional information” tab under the writing portion of the Common App.
