Currently I attend a small, single-sex college as a freshman, which I have found to have huge ups and downs, and I am beginning to wonder if I have chosen the right college, and how one even decides if a college is right for him/her.

Academically I certainly feel challenged, I am taking a heavy course load, and I certainly enjoy my professors and many of my classes.

However, the students at the college make me question the schools integrity. Some of the people I have met are outright stupid (they don’t care about/attend class) and I have found it hard to carry on conversations of substance (politics, religion, what we’re learning about in class) outside of class with nearly every person I have met.

How did you know that the college you chose was or wasn’t right for you?

If you aren’t happy there, transfer. It’s as simple as that. Paperwork and losing a few close friends are worth the price of being somewhere that works better for you.

I second he above comment. Happiness is one of, if not the main factor of good grades if you have the base intelligence (which you would if you got accepted into your college). I had a steady 3.63 GPA at a small liberal arts school, Rollins College in Winter Park, Fl. It got voted 8th douchiest school in America by GQ, and since me and all of my friends there agreed, I transfered. Unfortunatly, the school I’m at now is supposedly better, but it’s in my home town and the people here (San Antonio) are lame and completely 2-dimensional. So, my grades have gone WAAAAY down since it sucks the piper here. Yay life. Make sure you research where your transfering if you do transfer.
