How do I prevent anyone from sharing my posts on Facebook???!!!

I went to the “Social” tab and it’s not connected, but the Facebook icon still appears by my posts. It looks like anyone can share anyone else’s posts on Facebook. The FAQs say that this can only be done with our consent.

HELP.

If any post can be shared without my consent by any member, I am going to have to ask the Moderator to delete all evidence of my presence on CC.

Unless I’m totally spacing something out, it’s nothing “new”…anyone could always grab the url and paste it into their FB page since FB started handling it years ago…it’s just “easier” now. It doesn’t grab “your post” it grabs the thread. Try it and you will see–you can delete or simply not hit share button or close the window before it posts. I did ask on another thread if i was missing something, but I don’t think I am.

My issue is the fact that it’s so much easier to do. Clicking a button vs copying and pasting a link (which most people don’t think about)

Again, as I mentioned before, I think it’s going to be an issue in HSL where kids don’t really think before sharing things.

Then the high schoolers will learn a lesson.

Agree, this is one of those non-issue issues.

I hope that sharing posts on Facebook just does not happen. I have helped out on a particular college forum for several years as I have had “inside” access and I will stop helping students because of the Facebook “issue.” I don’t want to “out” my source or myself.

I don’t agree that it’s a non issue, but my opinion is clearly irrelevant.

All our opinions are relevant. But I do think people are needless worrying about something that was always able to be done…grab a thread and post it to FB – it’s “easier now” yes, but not “new.” maybe if they understand that they will fear less.

Uhm wut?
People let other people on FB know they use CC?
5 years of using this and I still don’t tell people lulz

And why is there still no quote button >.>

momof3 - I am curious how you are not outing yourself by posting here, but a FB post would do that?? I hate to be on FB myself, I don’t use my real first name, and don’t post but I just freaked out at a relative who posted my pic and had to make her untag me. I wish I had picked a more generic username here too.

I’m sure if one of my friends was on CC they could figure out who I am from things I’ve said. And if someone posted a thread with my current Avatar and they happened to be friends of a friend, it might get figured out, but I’m cautious about what I write and momofthreeboys is generic enough that there are dozens of people who use that and “show up” if I google it. Google indexes websites, so CC has been indexed for many years. I’ll probably change my avatar back in a couple days since the pic is a big clue, but thought I’d play along with the ‘dog fun.’
