I have taken the SAT twice. The first time was a 1570. The second time I took it, I got a 1740 (630 Math 600 Writing 510 Critical Reading)
In August, I will be a high school senior and will apply to colleges soon. Two of the colleges I want to apply to are Harvard and Stanford. I feel like my SAT score is awful for them. So should I the SAT for the third time this fall, or is that too much? I know those schools do not just look at SAT scores, but my extracurriculars are not godlike. And if I should take the SAT thrice, how do I raise my score to 2000+ ?
Honestly I want at least a 2250+ but I think 2000 is more reasonable at the moment. If I can get a 2000 on practice tests, then Ill focus on trying to get a 2250+.

To raise your SAT score, you just need to commit yourself to practice.

Harvard and Stanford do look at SAT scores, and if you think about it, you will be competing against thousands of other students who have 2000+. Just applying with a 1740 will put you at a disadvantage (although you may have an amazing personality, activities, and essay that can offset that). If you really want to be a solid applicant for Harvard and Stanford, I encourage you to retake and practice as much as you can before you take the SAT.

Good luck.
