I tried really hard for one year, reading 2 or 3 books, and completing almost the entire College Board SAT book, knowing all the grammar rules and strategies to do well.

After doing all that, I got a 1550 on the SAT test…
Is there a way to increase it? I think SAT 1 is really impossible.

Are there any useful recommendations?
Any online guide or any recommended books to increase my score?
I heard about turtleneck, but I’m not sure where you get that.

Thanks.

I think the problem is that you’re taking the SAT with the theoretical (is that the right word?) strategy. It’s like memorizing a whole book but failing the test because you don’t get the concepts.
…Maybe. I wouldn’t really know. I can’t even remember if the SAT even has anything to do with concepts.

Well, the math section is easy (unless math is your incredibly weak subject), just a bit tricky. It’s easy to make mistakes. So I’d suggest doing a few practice tests, finding shortcuts on your own that work for you. Eventually, you should be able to finish the math section fast enough to have time to double check, triple check, or rest.

The reading section…well, first of all, reading books doesn’t help that much, especially if you just read through them expecting to get something. You should probably work on your vocabulary, maybe the vocabulary cards. As for reading passages, again, find a strategy that works for you. Try not to fall asleep from the long passages. Etc, etc.

The writing section should be easy if you know all the grammar rules. Just make sure you check because there’s a possibility that you made stupid mistakes, like for math. Also, the essay can help your score a lot as well if you do well on it. Try writing various essays. You can also look at this one thread about SAT essays, with books that match certain prompts.

You might also be the type who gets weary from taking tests for too long. In that case…I don’t know really. Make sure you rest a lot the day before?

If none of what I’m saying helps…sorry. (>__<) I might just be repeating what you already know…
