How do i register for classes?

When can i do it?
How can i get the profs and classes i want?
Where can i do it?
How hard is it to get the classes i want?
If i dont get the schedule( or classes) i want, then is that it?
No second chance?
Thank you!

If you’re a freshman, you’ll get a chance to register during orientation after you meet with your adviser.

You can’t always get into the classes you want, but the system itself is pretty self-explanatory. Here’s the registrar for Fall 2011, if you’d like to go ahead and look through it:

[Fall 11 | Registrar | University of Texas at Austin](Course schedule | fall 2011 | Office of the Registrar)

It’s pretty difficult when you’re a freshman. Everyone else registers in the Spring, so you’re essentially stuck with whatever is left over. I believe they intentionally leave some spots open in introduction classes for freshmen, though.

The registrar re-opens a few days before classes start, so that’s your “second chance.” Students who don’t pay their tuition on time are dropped from all their classes, so a few classes usually open up during that period. You can also place yourself on a waitlist.

Can I go ahead and sign up for classes?
I am an upcoming freshman.

thanks!

Not yet you can’t
