<p>So here is the background: There is summer biology research camp that I REALLY want to go to. I applied got waitlisted then wrote a letter of interest and got in. During this whole time I was emailing the head lady back in forth. Now the problem is that due to some family issues I can’t attend. I feel really bad for all the work I had to do and that, someone else could have got in.</p>

<p>Just tell her briefly that you greatly appreciated the consideration they gave you and the opportunity to attend but family issues made attending impossible. It’s just an email so don’t be too afraid :)</p>
