Comments:
Sorry it’s really long, but I’m really really serious about getting into Tufts. It’s seriously my first choice.
I think the one semester of JROTC kinda screwed me as well as my mediocre performance in 9th and 10th grade.
But given that information, do you guys think I have a chance at all to get into Tufts? Thanks!
And if it helps at all, I’m a first generation Chinese immigrant who is also the person in my family to attend college. My family’s financial situation: We’re a family of 4, just right around the poverty line. I have a sister who will attend college right after i graduate.

That SAT score and GPA is really dragging you down. Try to get that up to a 2100 or higher like you have planned, and you’d probably have a better chance.

Right now, Tufts is a pretty big reach. Improving test scores and applying ED will help you though.

I definitely second bringing up the standardized test scores. Otherwise you have an okay shot. Definitely high reach at this point

I only have one test before the Tufts ED-- Which one do i need to fix more? THE SATII or SAT I?

Don’t get too caught up in standardized scores (or any other “objective” indicator). I know a girl rejected last year with 34 ACT, 3.9 GPA, captain of 2 sports, 4 years gold medal national latin exam, four 5’s and two 4’s on AP’s; a boy in her class was accepted with lower standardized tests (don’t remember the exact scores) and in top 25% of class instead of top decile, no awards, few AP’s. Perhaps the boy wrote a more disclosive and therefore more compelling essay?

You can take both the October and November tests. I had to take the chem SATII in november last year because I found out that for the school of engineering you have to take physics or chem (I had taken bio) several days after the october date.

Your background and ECs are interesting, but the test scores are very weak for Tufts and your GPA is good but not exceptional.
This is always a guessing game; I would say that you’ve got a shot, but you are not among the stronger candidates. If it’s really your first choice, apply ED, so that they know how much you want to go there.

I’d decided to retake me horribe SATIIs in hopes for a much better score as well as taking the ACT. I’m not 100% sure on how the Tufts ED works, but from what I hear, you can’t send in scores from tests after you take the test. Obviously, i’d like to retake all of them, but that seems to be impossible.
Thanks to everyone who commented!
Edit/Add:
Does anyone know how Tufts weigh their GPA (if at all)?

I’m not really sure what you’re saying, but it is entirely possible for you to retake the SATs and take/retake SATIIs and still apply ED. As I already posted, you can obviously use the October test date, but from my experience last year you can use the November test date as well, giving you two opportunities to take the tests.

Ohh okay, thanks.
