bUmP it up

I think ED matters a lot for WUSTL, since they are paranoid for being the safety for Ivy.

i’ve heard wash u is extremely arbitrary in it’s admissions; some ppl that get into MIT and princeton don’t get in
so r these ppl that get accepted at high ranking schools opting for regular admissions at wash u and get screwed for it?

If you really want WashU, ED is pretty much the best way. You also are very competitive for Northwestern, Rice, etc which are also very big ED schools.

bump…

it’s funny b/c when i visited Wash U over my spring break and i asked the college admissions representative if they try to fill up a certain amount of their admissions with ED
she almost stalled and gave me an answer that was something like “no, there’s no admissions strategy other than finding out early”
is that, in essence, a lie to keep ppl from applying so much ED, and if so will i find a straightforward answer to that question by talking directly to admissions?

umm yeah, really consider ED, i did it and feel it really improved my chances, the only way you can get out of it though is if there is absoulutly no way you can attend with the financial aid package they give you - that said, mine was pretty sweet. Most of your stats are better than mine - so i’d say you have pretty good chance. just some advice - college doesn’t care about jr high stuff (that u were validictorian). oh, and just curious - what “northern chicago suburb” are you from - i’m from the nothwest 'burbs, so i’m merely interested.

Decent shot ED.
A bit of a long shot RD.

Does Wash U equal to WUSTL? Or there are two different schools?

Washington University in St. Louis = WashU = WUSTL = Washington University = Washington U etc. etc.

That kind of sucks that they value ED so much…I want to go there, but I definitely don’t want to be locked in there…I put them as one of the colleges on my national merit thing in April…does this demonstrate enough interest for them to consider me assuming I have pretty good stats?
