<p>How do I tell the admission officers that I will go no matter what if they accept me? Should I write a note since I didn’t mention it on the application?</p>
<p>You shouldn’t explicitly try to convince UChicago that they are your first choice; you should intimate it to them in your essays, especially short essay number one.</p>
<p>So, if you didn’t do that, I guess all you can do is hope, pray, and read Joseph Epstein.</p>
<p>what i did was at the bottom of my essay number one, i wrote something like, “b/c of all these factors, theres no doubt in my mind that i will matriculate to uc if i am accepted”</p>

<li>i emailed my adcom when i had a few questions and with EACH email, i reiterated that it was my first choice. and i really showed that i meant it.</li>
<li>in the app, when they asked what other schools i was applying to, i just wrote “chicago is my first choice.” which was the truth. i was only applying to other places if i didn’t get in.</li>
<li>in the interview, i was honest. i told them how much i liked the school very, very honestly. i left NO DOUBT in their minds i would accept. you can be as explicit as you want. they like that, seriously.</li>
