How Do I Transport A Used Printer?

I am taking my HP Envy 4500 printer to college with me, but I am unsure of how to transport it.

If I put it in its box (which would put it in an upright position), will the ink cartridges leak? Should I remove the ink cartridges to transport it that way? Or should I just keep the box sideways (in the same position the printer would be in on a desk)?

I would like to avoid ruining my trustworthy little printer.

Uhm, if you’re really that concerned just remove the ink cartridges and put them back in after.
