how do i turn off this heater in my room?

it’s 30F outside, and i have my window WIDE OPEN, it’s snowing, and my room is still BURNING because i can’t figure out how to turn off this heater T.T

my heater looks like the one shown here:
<a href=“404 | Watts”>http://www.watts.com/pdf/ES-SV.pdf

you can see one-pipe radiator system picture here;

i have turned off “air vent” completely…

now im trying to shut off “radiator valve”… the question is i don’t know which way to turn it… am i supose to turn it left or right?

Right to tight, left to loosen.

Are you asking here because you’re in an engineering program or because you’re looking for engineers to solve your problem?

the former. and i feel even stupider because im a mechE. lol;;; thx for your help though.

Looking at the top of the device, it goes clockwise from full open to closed so assuming that turning the knob moves the pointer, it appears that right or clockwise should decrease the steam coming out.

BTW, if you decrease the amount of steam coming out of your radiator, it will increase the steam coming out of other radiators with more steam coming out of those closer to the boiler. Also, some of the heat is coming from the radiator itself and some from the steam. The benefit of the steam is humidity which is nice in the cold weather.

Rofl @thread and poster…

lol at this quote…haha, it’s all good
