How do Med Schools view taking Gen Eds at Community College

I’m not 100% sure if I want to go to med school, but I don’t want to mess myself up in case I do decide to apply.

During my freshman year I took gen chem 1 & 2, calc 1, intro to bio research, MCB 1, biostats, and two semesters of Japanese. The Japanese seems silly in hindsight, but they were fun.

Since I took 10 credit hours of Japanese I’m a little behind on gen eds. I was just accepted into the MCB honors program for next fall and will be taking orgo as well. That’s 12 credit hours alone, so I have room for 2 gen eds. However, chemistry is not by best subject. I have to study my butt off to get a good grade. I rather only take 1 gen ed in the fall semester bringing me to 15-16 credit hours and take 2 gen eds (possibly psychology and anthropology) over the summer at a community college. I wanted to take the gen eds at the university but summer housing is very expensive.

Would potential med schools look down on this decision?

Gen eds? Probably not. Just to play it safe, I personally wouldn’t take more than a few there.

(For what it’s worth, I took freshman English from a community college and I took it online; I had “writing intensive” classes in my major to fulfill the rest of the English credit. Had a nice run with the application process, and am currently a med student)
