I don’t want to brag or toot my own horn but I think I’m much more smarter and posses greater academic potential than my test scores may suggest. I am a horrible test taker especially on times tests like the SAT. I always panic when there is little time left and can hardly focus on the last few questions. Also some of the multiple choice answer choices can confuse me and I over think them especially on the writing section. Hence, my score takes a hit. How can I show colleges that my SAT scores are the way they are because of high test anxiety and not my intellectual ability?

Don’t be a victim of the testing business - I feel as if these tests are somewhat designed to make the smart kids feel bad about themselves and therefore spend hundreds of dollars on prep material/retakes and it’s just… stupid. A big scam.

I know Im going to get flamed by the hordes of academic perfectionists that lurk on this site, but I feel this needs to be said, because whether they like it or not, it’s the truth.

Don’t let one test define your ability. Why do you think people in charge of these “IQ tests” charge the test takers hundreds of dollars to take it? It’s a big fraud, but they know people are going to pay for it anyways. People will do anything to feel smart or above others. If anyone ever puts you down for your SAT scores, then screw them. There’s no reason to act like that over one test. Or be so stressed out about it, as I know many high-school students are.

And yes, Im a high scorer on these tests too, so don’t suggest I’m just mad cuz I gotz 1800 and a 19

As for showing the colleges, just have a lot of good extracurriculars, advanced classes, etc. I guarantee they value a hard worker/well rounded person over an elitist who flaunts his/her 36/2400 on College Confidential
